radical’s radical’s radical respect to my fellow human beings!

In reply to:

Evasions #2

i am an indigenous (not Indigenous) human being and mutt descendant of various tribes of europe and who knows what else.

i stand, putting my life on the line, now, for over 25 years, in solidarity with the way of the pre-colonized and waking-up-to-our-shared-colonizations.

i am one, and yet i represent many nations of people in my heart! i self-awaken, creating culture from diverse cultures. i am of the pipsqueak lodge (as gifted to me by a viking elder). i bridge between, intuitively supporting when i think i can. i question rigid hierarchies, and yet i honor those who can remember and still live within ancient wizdms!

When i see you at pow wows, where i am visiting as a solo orrioR, dancing and sharing my skills, i will look forward to our bests in perfectly imperfect process!

This is not “disrespectful” this is radical’s radical’s radical respect! A-hoH!

You may well not be familiar with this sort of thing, since some of it comes from bears i have been around, some of it from meeting with a wolf, and so many other amazing encounters and sharings with paradigms beyond devoutly Normal planted in our collective heads.

i look forward to meeting you all on the magick path of life and living!

(now, what if YOU are evading things as you claim i am evading????)

Whether or not my fellow unsettlers “get” my heart or not, is not my priority; depth-charging this world, is! A-heY!

Response to

Racism? Sexism? But What’s your Politics?

July 11, 2012 (old but so what?)

This is a reply to the article, in part:

i went to a forum on racism in the 1980s. In it we learned to see that our imperfections were not “bad” in themselves, they were real in the context of our isolation and alienation from each other. It was what we did with our new awarenesses that were most important!

To get stuck in “Us vs Them” kinds of antler-sticking (two antler-wearing people locking horns) tells us that there is more going on than ideology can so far tell us (ideology is a rigid way of being and seeing from only one perspective, i think).

Men have to be called out on their/our off-balance, but to promote restrictions of their symptoms is neocolonialism rising back up into us, i say!

valueofunderstandg

What do we wish to do most? Call each other out on our imperfections as they arise in our intuitions! (after all, behind the categories of male and female, we are all people, we are ALL human beings!) And, yet, divisiveness (?) is not what we TRULY want. Not what we ULTIMATELY want. We ultimately want cohesiveness more!

Is this not true? (And yet we don’t want fake cohesiveness!)

Okay, so how to do something like aikido on the situation?

You already know, i might just be aiding you in remembering.

Mens’ flailing and poking (etc.) are symptoms of living in this out-of-balance world. Their/our trajectory may well be different from yours. And may not be able to humbly wait for you to stop speaking (maybe a form of “rapport talk” creeping up, with potentials to free people with the hidden gift).

They NEED to let out their poison SOMEWHERE. That they are being REAL at all is a miracle, for this world! (How many men work overtime to MASK their real feelings? Lots!)

So why not explore some way of designing culture that can embrace and wrassle (?) with and dance into each others’ hearts???!!

Yes, angry womyn folk NEED to let their poisons too!

YES!

And you have been doing so!

i am coming from a place where i have been forced to take on flailing men (and some womyn), and i have learned that i sometimes have the ability to remember to call for us to have a consensual circle place, where we engage in enrichualiNg, so that our hearts can possibly meet, over time (if need be). It is an ongoing practice, which i am getting better at remembering to try out! i design such enrichuals (true richness, not material bullshit!) autonomously or with some Indigenous anchors (depending on which nations i have made connection with).

Feel free to challenge me on this! It is not written fully! Invitations also to complementing my seeing with your even better ones!

A-hey fellow human beings!

:p

Some deep thoughtfulness on emotions in our action spaces: from occupyoakland.org

11th comment: sage; December 8, 2011

“The difficulty with the language here is that it feels, even unintentionally, like an attack. It’s very, very difficult to explain to white people that by calling out systemic white supremacy, you aren’t throwing specific blame at the feet of all individual white people. ”

Feelings do not work best, in my experience, when they attempt to or in actuality exist in a vacuum and/or when they are allowed to exist in an unexamined way. If someone or even a very large group of people feel attacked by something, that does not, in a carte blanche manner, necessarily mean that such feelings are correct or helpful or beneficial. The feelings are legitimate, as all feelings are. Legitimacy and accuracy and beneficial however, are very different things and are not the automatic end points of all feelings. Feelings have to be investigated. They do not exist in a vacuum.

I am uncomfortable with what I am reading in this thread as a defense of one action over another based on people’s feelings of being attacked. Feelings are often heavily informed by conditioned responses (reactions) that have been learned or ingrained over a lifetime. This is especially true of feelings that can almost universally be seen as “difficult” feelings such as the feeling of being attacked. And, of course, with most feelings that are expressed with an “ed” at the end of them, the “ed” indicates a presumption that something is being “done to” the person who expresses feeling “attacked.” This in itself can easily become a way of not owning the feeling and doing the appropriate investigation. It can become an excuse for simply feeling victimized by another and having the process stop there. Feelings need to be examined and not simply and automatically used as a weapon of sorts to shut down the deeper investigation of what may be truly inspiring such “feelings.” This process requires examining from an internal locus of control rather than an external one. Once that is at least an potential part of the process, it becomes far more possible to be open to the possibility that the usage of a word like decolonize may not in fact at all be a process of “throwing specific blame at the feet of all individual white people.” And, here is a revolutionary thought: What if it *is* that? Does that *have* to be nothing but an awful, terrible, completely horrifying thing that in no way can be navigated and resolved? Maybe even that realization can be used as an opening for building trust, connection, intimacy and communion. It would not be the first time in human experience that something that seems absolutely intractable is used as a point of reconciliation. South Africa’s Truth and Reconciliation” hearings is a good post modern example. The beneficiaries and purveyors of apartheid were being held accountable for some of the most egregious acts to befall humankind. And yet, reconciliation was one of the stated objectives and…one of the tangible outcomes. Again, such a thing is far less able to be navigated or even imagined if internal investigation is left out and the only thing that is allowed in is unexamined reactivity.

We are ALL colonized, a.k.a. reduced into tools or resources to run and support ‘The System’

Here’s a text (below) that has made a difference to me because it does a pretty good job of “connecting the dots” of several “single issue” topics, while showing their commonalities. Commonalities, that is, which reflect the over-arching belief system (a.k.a. “shared values”)  of every elite position (including those internalized in their officers and implementers) in formal, ‘Western’, Euro-centric Societies; be they the u.s.a., canada, europe, –or one of their historical colonial “children” (i.e. all of S. America, Africa, and Asia). “Shared values” exposed by such eminent institutional analysts as Noam Chomsky (quoting multiple “cultural and social managers”), on over to long- “reputable” and widely heralded elite thinkers like Niccolo Machievelli.

This view, of course, flies in the face of the Givens (“conventional wisdom”) that most do not think through deep enough. That is, deeper than what any of the “wings” of The System teach (be they Left, moderate, or Right-wing). Each “wing” teaches critical thinking only on “germs of truth”, while Big Picture truths are reduced to classic propaganda-style technique: demonize some bogey like “Those Bad Right-Wingers!” or “Those Stupid Liberals!”

Or the idea that White People, for instance, cannot be colonized because they are part and parcel of the colonial enterprise.

Well, on the one hand, we see the reality that most of “us” (White folks) are coercively taught those values, and “we” emulate those–until such a time when we begin “waking up –usually by “being slapped in the face,” so to speak, “with reality” to some extent. But it is crucial to understand that these values, that System is not Who We Are, and those values are not “our” values; we’ve simply taken and worn them and identified with them because they are the only frame of reference around us. And because there has been a system of privileges and subtle coercions which inspire us into such a direction.

Today, of course, those privileges are waning (generally speaking); they are being “Outsourced” to newly enticed sections of humanity in which elites seek to “hook” into their System. As nations like India, for example, are groomed, “developed”, and “Globalized”.

“Connecting the dots” is a Vital Move towards ‘in-the-heart’

understanding!

“In my view, citizens of democratic societies should undertake a course of intellectual self-defense in order to protect themselves from manipulation and control, and lay the basis for more meaningful democracy.”–Noam Chomsky, leading US political and media dissident

This page is devoted to solving the problems oppressed people face *once and for all*! By looking for the "heart" of the problem and "unearthing" such, we all gain increased insight and understanding about what may be happening, not only to notably oppressed persons (Africans, women, Jews, Gays) but persons not yet viewed as being oppressed or otherwise destructively confined in our increasingly severe alienation from each other. In this way we may more carefully, and more meaningfully proceed towards valuable insights, understandings, and solutions to our challenges hopefully with less "spinning of wheels" and learning from the pitfalls and same old "dead-ends" which other groups have gone down!

***NOTE: When i say "all" i mean all, across and beyond all of our artificial and fear-stuck boundaries and self-limiting categories. Including those hurting individuals and groups who may not even yet be aware of the roots of their pain--including the worst oppressors, as individuals (not as perpetually de-individualized groups). We're all human beings, and it's about time someone identify that and get to work on serious solutions!

Introduction

CONTROLLING THE allegedly “STUPID” MASSES

·         It starts in history

·         goes on to “your” kids and

·         continues throughout our lives…

“…if we are afraid, we are almost always afraid of something, and the more clearly we can see what it is we are afraid of, the more likely we are to be able to cope with that fear.”–John Holt in FREEDOM AND BEYOND p.32

Introduction
to “connecting the dots” on broad terms

Understanding the depth and breadth of the challenge before us is vital not only to a single-issue-oriented community seeking to orient itself to make serious defenses in the face of increasingly authoritarian attack, but also to seeing how alone we are not in the broader, or *macro* picture. In realizng that many have been where we now are, and learning from their mistakes and experiences we may thus find new inspiration and energy to continue our pursuit of justice and sanity.

One of the best ways i’ve found to understand that which is happening against the single issue that brought me into this larger inquiry, has been my desire to understand how the predicament could have happened in the first place. Thus i sought insights into what has happened and what is happening to others whom have been or continue to be in similar shoes. In this inquiry, i have found that if the single-issue oriented can realize comparisons and find underlying systematic patterns to the roots of these problems which prove to be shared by many, the treasure from this can be very very powerful for all involved!

Because then we all start to see how many similarities we share as human beings, and as well the import of building our numbers and our awareness in a kind of solidarity which seeks, finally, to liberate *all*–not only those directly suppressed and oppressed by the injustice, but those others whom we have believed to be “evil” and “incapable” of caring.

So, with all this in mind, i invite you to explore the limited study here, compare it with your experiences and second-hand study…

CONTROLLING YOU, THE “STUPID”/FEARED MASSES

“Rulers have always conspired against their subjects, and sought to keep them in [physical and psychological] bondage.”Thomas Szasz

It starts in history…

QUESTION:
Is there a consistent way in which relatively weak and unprepared groups of people have been treated throughout history? Are many examples in the modern era comparable to those in history? How about witches?

Witches were known to be a “plaguing” European and American societies at one time.

What other groups can you think of that have been treated similarly to us? How about South and North American Indian people? Consider the following quote:

“…most Americans were not ready to listen. For four hundred years, the world had failed to understand Indian people, and the watchword of the day was change–change for Indian people, not understanding of them.”– from the introduction of FROM THE HEART, Voices of the American Indian; edited by Lee Miller; Knopf; NY; 1995; p.xiii

Now take a look at a few instants in history (see link: http://www.angelfire.com/psy/intheheart/history.html) of comparable treatment of weakly organized or unorganized groups by tyrannical power:

  • Once popularized belief: EDUCATION DAMAGES GIRLS’ REPRODUCTIVE ORGANS
  • DISTINGUISHED BRITISH BIOLOGIST ON FEEBLEMINDEDNESS
  • Psychiatrists called it: DRAPETOMANIA: the ‘mental illness’ of slaves running away from their masters
  • Another once widely popular and fully reputable belief: TREATMENT OF SELF-ABUSE
  • STERILIZATION LAWS IN 30 U.S. STATES
  • MILGRAM’S EXPERIMENTS
  • SHERIDAN AND KING’S EXPERIMENT

Okay, there’s something to get you going a little. Now let’s look at some ways in which these same patterns manifest in contemporary forms; take the way in which the pattern…

…CONTINUES WITH “YOUR”KIDS…

No one likes the claim that their young would be targeted for deceit and violation. But beyond the public relations hype about officials having their interests first and foremost, such managers and controllers of the masses' offspring are "just doing their jobs" in quite curious ways. Most probably aren't even aware of how the ideas and beliefs they've received in their training affect those they "help." But that doesn't matter--as long as they "follow the rules" or "play within the limits" of the game, they won't lose their jobs.

While these middle-persons may not be aware of the possible political control behind their work, I can show you that their bosses are; at least to the extent that they follow a shared view about how such institutions “must be run.” The people who came up with these ideas in the first place (and who are often well-known to well-trained people), publish their beliefs in well-circulating journals, like “Public Opinion Quarterly.” People like Edward Bernays, Walter Lippmann, and Reinhold Niebuhr. They “understood” the potential of independent thought going “too far” and wanted to help “the more intelligent members of society” keep the “stupid” masses on “the proper course.”

So when, in the 1970’s, “much too many” voices of the oppressed began to become audible, those who didn’t want such people to “cause trouble” had to stop the “virus” at its roots.

Is this really possible? Can it actually be true? Read more about what was called the”Crisis of Democracy” (http://www.angelfire.com/psy/intheheart/Chom2.html)

“Oppositional Defiance Disorder” (ODD):This "disorder" basically attacks all those whom are inarticulate about their intuited dislike /rebellion of strictness/authoritarianism/either-or mindsets in the lives of the youngest and most unprepared persons (including parents with little time or critical resources); as with ADHD, those so labeled will certainly grow up uncritically accepting that their brains are "broken" and lay a beach-head for the introduction of open Soviet-style psychiatry in the U.S. and territories--after all, how can children *want* to rebel from/defy their *loving* caretakers?? They *must* have a brain disorder goes the conventional wisdom! Ultimately, this could seriously mean the persecution of *all* dissent as "mental illness", or at least that dissent which has been marginalized by the most superficial and un-threatening forms.

…AND CONTINUES THROUGHOUT OUR LIVES

“The powerful were, and still are, writing history to maintain control of the thoughts of the masses well into the future (the intention is forever). Unless the process is fully exposed, sincere researchers will forever be using these [thousands of surreptitiously] published accounts as sources to write history. In addition, intelligence agencies of most major nations were simultaneously producing supporting propaganda… The intelligence services of all empires… cooperate in misinforming their citizens to gain their backing supposedly for suppressing tyrants but in reality to maintain control of the world.

(…)

“To target the American people, American intelligence services must simultaneously target those the masses look up to for designing and interpreting our world, Congress and academics.[CIA dissident Ralph] McGehee claimed that “He has never once seen a CIA official tell the truth to Congress. In a talk  (reprinted with permission: http://www.angelfire.com/psy/intheheart/Chom1.html ) given in Kentfield, CA in 1991, one of the more articulate analysts of the desire to control the American people (or "stupid masses"), had a few things to say about how policy makers (and their obedient implementers) think:

“[T]here’s a logic behind it. There’s even a kind of compelling moral principle behind it. The compelling moral principle is that the mass of the public is just too stupid to be able to understand things. If they try to participate in managing their own affairs, they’re just going to cause trouble. Therefore it would be immoral and improper to permit them to do this.

“We have to tame the bewildered herd [say famous PR gurus–who weren’t in this business for the fun of it–like Edward Bernays, Walter Lippmann, Reinhold Niebuhr, Harold Lasswell, and others]. Not allow the bewildered herd to rage and trample and destroy things. It’s pretty much the same logic that says that it would be improper to let a three-year-old run across the street. You don’t give a three-year-old that kind of freedom because a three-year-old doesn’t know how to handle that kind of freedom. Correspondingly, you don’t allow the bewildered herd to become participants [in meaningful democracy because] they’ll just cause trouble.” (…)

Now that you are hopefully becoming more aware of some of the extent upon which the public seems to be systematically disinformed and lied to, it is important to understand that probably no structure that serves the "stupid masses" should be exempt from our sober scrutiny.

to the strategically-challenged!

Tried to post this in response to eslaporte on January 14th, but suddenly occupytogether.org began having problems with their network (no surprise..). So i’ll quote eslaporte:

The main source of out frustrations and deprivations for the past 25-30 years comes from Anglo-American Conservative ideology. Anglo-American Conservative ideology is represented by Thatcher, Reagan and in think tanks, like the Heritage Foundation.

To these folks, “freedom” is greed and greed is “freedom.” This ilk defines “freedom” and the ability to take as much money and resources out of society – never mind the suffering of people your “freedom” brings. Social Darwinism is also a large part of their religious faith. If you cannot get a job – starve – simple as that. If a 1% has access to the politics and are able to manipulate the system to get more – well it’s because they are “the fittest.” They then move to shut the rest of us out of our own countries!

In the UK, Thatcher once handled an “economic crisis” by taking milk away from the poor kids. This ilk “works” economic crisis by taking from the poor to feed the rich – and they are doing this in various European countries where the voters have been foolish enough to put into power people who claim to “admire Thatcher” and/or “admire Reagan.” Realize that Anglo-American Conservatism is responsible for the misery that we face on both sides of the Atlantic. The real foe here is harsh, brutal and cruel Anglo-American Conservatism.

Solidarity!

My reply:

Ah, so many of us, of course, are so deeply strategically-challenged! But i’m glad there are quite a few people here (speaking of occupytogether.org) who are willing to put their thoughts out into the open, to some extent, and be challenged to think even deeper!

“Conservative ideology”, yes, that’s a germ of the truth. But if you were never allowed the privilege, from the get-go of participating peripherally in our so-called “great democracy”, you would certainly see (in a way that cannot be fluffed over with uncritical self-deception) that the “liberal” side of the equation, as you appear to be promoting, is part and parcel of the bigger picture of the colonial/neo-colonial tact itself! –Where both “liberal” and “conservative” are primary deceivers, and those who uncritically follow them (a phenomenon the world-over amongst the colonized, Europeans included, whom have no other frame of reference easily thought of)–imagining themselves to be a part of the hoax, until, that is, they find themselves out-sourced/no longer “needed” to build and sustain empire!

Of course, those who would like to steer us into the same old “divide and conquer” strategy, want to keep us believing, in a familiar religious-like drum-beat, that If Only The Others Would Capitulate (!), Then We’d All Have Our Great Democracy Back!

Hah!

The bottom line for me is I think we should be utilizing a more demystifying language, instead of just allowing these terms (liberal, conservative) to have their way with us, as usual. I’d like to see something along the lines of “seriously duped” and “less seriously duped” (but still duped nonetheless)!

Want some truly deep grist to chew on? Check out unsettlingamerica.wordpress.com

And if you wanna throw all the usual self-justifications for The Way Things Is at them, i invite you all to come by my blog and take me on, first! (It’s just one way i’m making it less difficult for indigenous folks to deal with so many who are seriously duped/strategically fooled!)

Some ideas for ways forward

Post this on a reply section of http://www.occupytogether.org. See:

i’ve added a few things since posting that, tho..

Why aren’t challengers going into the neighborhoods of the middle managers and elites and exposing realities there? (I.e. when policy implementers/cops come to deny our rights, etc.) Most of the elites and they who trust the status-quo do not read our media and only rely on the corporate media. If we brought our message (not only of reaction, but of meaningful, organic community!) into their privileged spaces, we could really turn some heads, i think!

So why are we NOT doing this already? Why are we staying only within the same old tactics (i.e. “of speaking truth to power”–those who already know what they are doing!). I think because many of us have not thought through our tactics thoroughly enough! It’s time we spoke truths to people, informally, not when they are at their most formal (i.e. in downtowns everywhere). And not only speak “to” them, but “with” them, in organic solidarities IN THEIR NEIGHBORHOODS.

And, yes, i did say solidarity. i guess that’s where my seeing seems to diverge (??) from many occupy folks (who i think are getting trapped in reactionaryisms, and basically shooting themselves in the feet when they apply necessary consciousness about corporate alienation to the unwitting soldiers of that alienation). But maybe i’m wrong about my assumption (and limited experience) on this? i hope so! (maybe those who feel similarly should work on speaking up more publicly??)

i think it’s crucial to hold bridges of community potential open to ALL, while still sticking with a systematic critical consciousness about how corporate and colonial/neo-colonial structures tool human beings. Across the spectrum!

i advocated this to some of the Eureka, CA occupiers, but i don’t know if anyone really could hear it, flooded as they were with the overwhelm of trying to keep their basic space together.

i also promoted the idea that we could stop in all kinds of places (for a week!) around cities. That is, strike up our 24-hour vigils EVERYWHERE, while still maintaining the communities we’re building. Why not do this kind of demo-action??? It would sustain the movement, and would also be able to reach more diversity! Cover more bases!! And not get stuck in what the Left has always gotten stuck in (i think, as a post-Left critical thinker, part of the recuperative meta game of the Left/Right/Center of neo-colonization).

Oh, and as far as the offishal push to render “anti-camping” policies, the homeless amongst us need to begin articulating that we are in our tent HOMES. This is not “camping”! Someone articulated that camping is recreational, but didn’t go far enough!

Hope some of you will pass this on!

Paid a price for my wearing Oklahoma’s intensity!

Yes, a few days after posting that text, i had my own, i guess reflection; a kind of spiritual “chickens coming home to roost”; basically i reflected similarly to Okie-la-homie! And went through a similar “emotional breakdown” of my own!

And it turned out excellently, as i took hold of my baggage on this topic!

Wanted to add myself to the sometime off-balance

i mentioned the Cherokee below, but i think the reason i was able to empathize with him so much was because i myself was quite off-balance when i first got involved in Occupy–having spent months away from people, as well as the city and all the crap that comes with that. i was quite well-balanced (i think) on my own off in the woods, going cross country by my own power; but when i entered the minimum security prison known as the city (Arcata, very very privileged compared to Eureka, at least least if you’re a resident).

i, too, found myself speaking loudly at all hours of the night (tho no one got on my case to shut up). i, too, was a bit irrational. Some would say that it was marijuana’s fault, but the reality is that i’m very sensitive, and when i utilize that herb spiritually (i walke with the Native American Church, btw), i tend to experience the pain of the reality i’m in…re: all the realities of living free in the middle of freedumb…and not, for curiously spiritual reasons, “getting a lid on it” like Nice, Middle Class People Somehow Can. Duh, i wonder how…tho, i DO know much of THAT is merely a FRONT! It’s like Aldous Huxley once said, the people not exhibiting the symptoms of living in an insane society are REALLY crazy!

So, i just wanted to make things a bit more clear, here. Hopefully this is coherent enough? (imposed time limits me too much unfortunately)

Alleged Cherokee Unsettles and teaches HSU Occupy

Last thanksgiving break, the HSU Occupy was still happening and a pretty big group of people spent at least a few days there. i got there Friday (or was it Saturday?) and got a “full” experience of a certain younger man (age 43 he said) who also said he was “100 percent Cherokee”. Looked a bit Native, but full? Well, anyway….what developed was quite an interesting time into the psychology of the Occupy movement –which wants to be in solidarity with “the 99%” ideally…but, in my reckoning, flounders along lines where unorthodoxy meets old Lefty routines which may or may not have been adequately thought through.

The apparent view that survives interactions with people like the mentioned Cherokee dude, which i’ll get to in a minute, is a view that sees such people as provocateurs. Agent provacateurs. Also known as persons paid to subtract the great spirit found in organic or unorthodox, anti-establishment pursuits of sanity…

But there’s a fine line because a lot of folks are reflecting the intense symptoms of being put through a system that works to crush the spirit, and to make one off-balance.

A case in point, the Cherokee, calling himself Oklahoma. Now my notes:

After thinkin’ o’ Okie La Longwinded Homie (my endearing name for him) –flounderin’ dance Row Boat Style on Deck of the HSU/N.Humboldt Occupy . His ‘Trail of Tears’ truth reflectin’ in bits, seeping seepage, even when his alleged status took Apple Indian turns (i callin’ him out on some!). Trickle of truth heart burblin’ thru TORRENT OF “SCHIZO-AFFECTIVE DISORDER” OFF-BALANCE REFLECTION DANCE. Keepin’ us settlers-seeking-jobs-in-the-settlement UP ALL NIGHT, GOING ON FOUR NIGHTS IN A ROW–just AFTER Thanks-taking/giving holiday. In a context of little real respect of local NDNz, it seemed to me, even tho i saw a few obvious such folks in attendance (at the main free meal site put on by a number of churches and ‘vets for peace’ in Arcata, CA).

i never did reach Okiehomie “logickly”. Never, really. Oh, in Eureka (where he’d gone to after being kicked out of HSU by the cops) while i was there for an hour or so he enquired about whether the small teepee frame he set up was still up (i noted that he left a painted rock, red and black, in it, after i had gifted him the most excellent rock i’d found up north–a “heart of the river” stone, i called it). He feined (?) a hug but his overall meta depthcharge hadn’t yet soaked very deeply into me even by then so i was still mostly on my guard with him…

Lauren at the HSU Occupy claimed he is a “sex offender” and left that vague. Of course, the mere mention of that phrase today pushes most to go along with whatever the claimant says, at least openly. It’s like calling someone a Jew in the Nazi Germany times. Who’s going to defend THEM??

Me, i can imagine, what with Okiehomie’s climaxic energy the second to last night, just after one of the students there challenged him to some physicality (in the context that no one could get him to SHUT UP), that Okiehomie WAS in fact a ‘sex offender’ and his TORRENT of off-the-deep-end through0ut 4 nights (at least!) reflecting the realities of being so labeled in any institutional setting, the classicly conditioned sheeple going along. Re: his crying whimper spirit…spoken when that student pushed him up to the edge of his agro and far enough away so that some of us FINALLY got some sleep, or at least a little rest from his NOISE. (Note: this isn’t well-edited, as i’m on a severe time limit unfortunately)

Tho, as befits the Occu-pattern of Occupy in my experience, as soon as “we” finally began “to settle in” collectively, there was Okiehomie as if on cue–getting loud again, this time seeming to re-enact what he may’ve gone through unjustly (?) in prison.

Honestly, i could radical’s radically empathize with him only AFTER i was away and had enough sleep. During his “reign” (of sorts), i was with the reactionaries, knowing nothing else that could be done; that is, i tried, multiple times, but as soon as i did, well, it was like he was firing off reflections that his mother or auntie or some other authoritarian in his life leveled at him.

An example:

How about the time i got so flabbergastedly fed-up with him that i ran away yelling only in shorts, barefooted despite a chilly night, and ran around the nearest large building, on mostly rough concrete; my feet acheing and perhaps even bleeding (they FELT that pained), i made it back, heart palpatating weirdly.

Another example:

He consistently kept kicking my ass verbally about bullshit, i.e. when we’d fed local racoons (a lovely time!), he claimed i had scared ’em off. Then, when he was apparently getting a number of Owls to visit (using an interesting technique), hooting in building numbers (or was it folks camping upstairs, using bottles??), i asked him if he wanted something like a blanket or something, and immediately he chastized me, loudly, for scaring ’em all away! But his chastizing was a sometime mix of curious humor as well, as when he added that i’d probably also scare away the Mountain Lions he would be calling for the next night! Oh my!

So there was some curious manipulation going on by him. And then he’d mix it with seeming excellence. Like the time he said that every time he coughed loudly (or something equally noisy and obnoxious after awhile), that signified a thousand people dying at the hands of orthodoxy.

Another positive note: He did apparently “get away with” jumping the verbotten Eureka court house police fence when i was there for that short time (i’d also been there for a few nights up to when we all got kicked out by the cops, but that’s another story).

The bottom line to intense men like Okie La Homie? He taught us. To GALVANIZE. When we were still quite a loose group, he forced us to build up our strength and work together enough to kick his butt out!

On the other hand, i wanted to meet up with local natives and see if we might create some sort of sweatlodge for Okiehomie, and bridge with the guy. Imagine the excellence that MIGHT have been brewed up had we been oriented not to “protection via restriction” but to “protection via strategies of enrichment”!!
