Tried to post this in response to eslaporte on January 14th, but suddenly occupytogether.org began having problems with their network (no surprise..). So i’ll quote eslaporte:
The main source of out frustrations and deprivations for the past 25-30 years comes from Anglo-American Conservative ideology. Anglo-American Conservative ideology is represented by Thatcher, Reagan and in think tanks, like the Heritage Foundation.
To these folks, “freedom” is greed and greed is “freedom.” This ilk defines “freedom” and the ability to take as much money and resources out of society – never mind the suffering of people your “freedom” brings. Social Darwinism is also a large part of their religious faith. If you cannot get a job – starve – simple as that. If a 1% has access to the politics and are able to manipulate the system to get more – well it’s because they are “the fittest.” They then move to shut the rest of us out of our own countries!
In the UK, Thatcher once handled an “economic crisis” by taking milk away from the poor kids. This ilk “works” economic crisis by taking from the poor to feed the rich – and they are doing this in various European countries where the voters have been foolish enough to put into power people who claim to “admire Thatcher” and/or “admire Reagan.” Realize that Anglo-American Conservatism is responsible for the misery that we face on both sides of the Atlantic. The real foe here is harsh, brutal and cruel Anglo-American Conservatism.
Ah, so many of us, of course, are so deeply strategically-challenged! But i’m glad there are quite a few people here (speaking of occupytogether.org) who are willing to put their thoughts out into the open, to some extent, and be challenged to think even deeper!
“Conservative ideology”, yes, that’s a germ of the truth. But if you were never allowed the privilege, from the get-go of participating peripherally in our so-called “great democracy”, you would certainly see (in a way that cannot be fluffed over with uncritical self-deception) that the “liberal” side of the equation, as you appear to be promoting, is part and parcel of the bigger picture of the colonial/neo-colonial tact itself! –Where both “liberal” and “conservative” are primary deceivers, and those who uncritically follow them (a phenomenon the world-over amongst the colonized, Europeans included, whom have no other frame of reference easily thought of)–imagining themselves to be a part of the hoax, until, that is, they find themselves out-sourced/no longer “needed” to build and sustain empire!
Of course, those who would like to steer us into the same old “divide and conquer” strategy, want to keep us believing, in a familiar religious-like drum-beat, that If Only The Others Would Capitulate (!), Then We’d All Have Our Great Democracy Back!
The bottom line for me is I think we should be utilizing a more demystifying language, instead of just allowing these terms (liberal, conservative) to have their way with us, as usual. I’d like to see something along the lines of “seriously duped” and “less seriously duped” (but still duped nonetheless)!

And if you wanna throw all the usual self-justifications for The Way Things Is at them, i invite you all to come by my blog and take me on, first! (It’s just one way i’m making it less difficult for indigenous folks to deal with so many who are seriously duped/strategically fooled!)
